TAA04 Training Package Overview
The Training and Assessment Training Package (TAA04) represents part of the continuing cycle of quality improvement in Training Packages.
The impact of the Training and Assessment Training Package is wide-ranging, and affects:
- individuals seeking to undertake training and assessment qualifications;
- individuals undertaking professional or staff development;
- individuals seeking to extend, enhance and complement existing qualifications;
- all RTOs and other organisations providing training and assessment to internal staff and/or external clients; and
- organisational quality management systems for training and assessment services.
Who developed the Training and Assessment Training Package (TAA04)
Business Services Training Australia (BSTA), now part of the Innovation and Business Industry Skills Council, developed the Training and Assessment Training Package (TAA04) to meet the competency development needs of individuals and organisations providing training and assessment services within the vocational education and training sector.
The vocational education and training sector is responsible for developing the competence of individuals in areas of work required by industry, enterprises and organisations, as well as providing general education for the community. The vocational education and training sector encompasses both recognised training leading to a Qualification or Statement/s of Attainment, as well as non-recognised training, such as in-house, product-based training.
What do the codes mean?
Vocational Education and Training codes may seem confusing, below is a basic explanation of the Training and Assessment codes:
TAA04 is the code for the Training and Assessment Training Package: The TAA stands for “Training And Assessment” and the 04 indicates the year the train package was endorsed, in this example it was 2004.
TAA50104 is the code for the Diploma of Training and Assessment Qualification: Again the TAA stands for “Training and Assessment” the proceeding number 5 indicates the Qualifications AQF Level (in this case it is at level five or diploma level). The next set of numbers 01 refers to the series number and the following 04 again refers to the year of endorsement.
TAA40104 is the code for the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment Qualification (currently being phased out): Again the TAA stands for “Training and Assessment” the proceeding number 4 indicates the Qualifications AQF Level (in this case it is at level four or certificate four level). The next set of numbers 01 refers to the series number and the following 04 again refers to the year of endorsement.
TAE40110 is the code for the NEW Certificate IV in Training and Assessment Qualification: The TAE stands for “Training And Education” the proceeding number 4 indicates the Qualifications AQF Level (in this case it is at level four or certificate four level). The next two numbers 01 refers to the series number and the final two numbers 10 refers to the year of endorsement i.e. 2010.
